Meet Dale Wheeland, D.O.
Why did you decide to become a Membership Based Medicine Physician?
My decision to become a Membership Based Physician is all about the reasons that I chose medicine to begin with, and that’s the patients. Limiting the number of patients I care for enables me to have the luxury of time with each of them. It allows me to spend more time with my patients without feeling rushed or falling behind.
It also affords me the luxury of bringing in more of the ideals of Osteopathic Medicine where time is spent on a more holistic approach to healthcare; emphasizing preventative medicine and the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself when the systems within it are working together in harmony.
Membership Medicine allows me to give my patients “something more.”
I’ve come to that time in my life when my desire to practice medicine the way I want is overwhelming. I want to recapture the joy and fulfillment of spending time working with my patients to provide quality healthcare and wellness.
How do you stay involved in your community?
My extended family has for many years sponsored, prepared and served an annual holiday meal for the developmentally disabled. We even manage to get our out-of-town family to fly in to help and we get every bit as much out of it as those we serve.
I am a longtime member of the Thunderbird Automobile Club of Tucson.
What do you like to do when you're not in the office?
When I have time away from the office I enjoy bicycle riding and have participated in the “El Tour de Tucson” for four years. I also enjoy playing golf when time allows. Now that my two daughters have married and relocated to the east coast, I have a lot of fun keeping up with them daily through our “Fit Bit” challenges. It pushes each of us to be more active! We now have their husbands and other friends and family in on the competition.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” Confucius
I tend to use this quote often in encouraging patients to make small changes that many times turn into big changes.
Dr. Wheeland has been my doctor for over 20 years. He is thorough, has a
passion for listening to his patients and spends the time needed to calm
your fears. His staff is courteous and always has a smile to give. They
will always work you in whenever needed, you can't ask for more than this
from a provider. Love this office and have recommended him numerous times
over the years.
Concierge Medicine Philosophy & Approach
We believe that medicine today should focus on prevention, early detection, wellness, direct patient care and spending dedicated time with patients. These are the tenets of concierge medicine. After years of private practice, physicians who transition to concierge medicine get to return to giving patients the type of care they envisioned when entering medical school. Learn More
