Meet Gerald Morris, MD, MPH, ABOM
Where did you earn your degree and describe your experience?
I earned my medical degree from St. Georges University in Grenada with board certifications in Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Obesity Medicine (ABOM). I am board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Obesity Medicine (ABOM). My areas of expertise are in acute and chronic disease management of adults. I have a large focus on preventing disease. I pride myself on being able to engage my patients on an individual level and build treatment plans that are very specific to their own personal health issues. I proudly hold certifications as a Certified Health Coach – Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Certified High Performance Coach by the High Performance Academy – Life Coach Certification.
What is your philosophical belief about the practice of medicine?
Human beings are complex creatures therefore it is wrong to treat people like a collection of symptoms. Patients need to be treated holistically. This approach will guarantee the best outcomes and satisfaction for the patient and the physician as well.
How has the current healthcare model hindered you from practicing medicine?
The traditional medical model requires a very large patient panel and places huge time constraints as well as a ton of red tape between the physician and the patient. This disparity leads to decreased patient satisfaction due to limited access to their physician, which ultimately can lead to poor patient outcomes.
What do you hope your patients will experience/feel when joining your membership-style practice?
My hope is my patients should be comforted in the fact that their concerns will be heard and can be dealt with more efficiently and expeditiously. My practice will have the small-town family feel with all the bells and whistles of a 21st century medical practice. I will provide longer appointment times to allow my patients to voice all concerns. The extra time will allow me to provide the best advice and services to address the patient’s concerns.
What is your favorite quote?
“Let your faith be bigger than your fears.” – Hebrews 13:6
"Although I was very happy with my previous doctor, he was always running way behind and it was difficult to schedule an appointment with him. So I decided to give Dr. Morris a shot. I couldn't be happier that I did. Dr. Morris takes the time to listen to his patients and I never feel rushed. He is thorough and knowledgeable and works at treating the underlying medical conditions rather than just treating the symptoms. I like the fact that he doesn't just prescribe more drugs, but looks for simple ways to improve my overall health."
